The benefits of volunteering at Stokes Nature Center are learning from experienced naturalists, developing new skills and experiences, adding experience to your resume and list of references for future employment and best of all having fun and making a difference in the community.

DESCRIPTIONS: Volunteer Teachers- Weekdays Come teach elementary age school children about geology or wetlands our 1.5 - 2 hour school programs. No previous teaching or curriculum knowledge is required. A time commitment of 40 hours per school year is needed.
Take pictures for any school or community programs. A digital camera will be provided. It is not necessary for the photographer to stay the entire program or for the entire day but it is an option. A time commitment of 2 hours per month is needed. Community Programs Assistant – Saturdays Assist a teacher/naturalist with Saturday community programs including exploring snowflakes or snowshoeing. Programs are held on the first and third Saturday of the month. No previous teaching or curriculum knowledge is required. A time commitment of three Saturdays or 9 hours total is needed. Marketing/Web or Public Relations Volunteers Designing, writing or editing our web page, flyers and brochures. Share your ideas, experience or interests and help SNC update its image. You could be part of a team or work on individual projects as your time and interest permit. A time commitment of 4 hours per quarter is needed.
Plan, develop and design an album highlighting the history of SNC and its upcoming 10th year anniversary. An interest in scrapbooking or design is helpful. Volunteer could be one person or part of a team. A time commitment of 2 hours per month is needed.
