Citizen Science Photography Workshop

Presented in conjunction with the upcoming photo exhibit Radiant or Ravaged, join Dan Miller from the Bear River Watershed Council, and Brian Greene from Utah Water Watch, to learn about how photographs have made a difference in the local forest and watershed. Learn how you can use a photo app on your smart phone or tablet to collect scientific data on nature and enjoy a photography walk along the River Trail to put it into practice!

This class will cover purchasing and raising chicks, flock management, feeding, housing, seasonal issues, health and much more! Learn about what backyard chicken keeping entails, or get expert tips on managing you already established flock.

Come put your survival skills to the test through this overnight expedition! No survival experience? No problem! Join Utah State University students to learn basic techniques rom a survival specialists, including a certified Search & Rescue professional. When one begins a garden, one tends the soil, enriching and cultivating the ground. Then it is ready to recive the seeds. In this class, we will use basic mindfulness practices combined with accessible yoga postures to tend to the body, plant the seeds of awareness, and cultivate ease! Please bring a yoga mat. Project Learning Tree Teacher Workshop: Forests of the World

Join Stokes and the Utah Society for Environmental Education for this teacher training geared toward both formal and non-formal K-8 educators! Learn how to incorporate forestry and invironmental related activities into your programs ans classrooms. Through interactive activities, reading strategies, and technology connection you will be able to reach students with varying needs and talents! Eligible for USOE Credits.

Backyard Harvest: Rain Barrel Workshop

Learn how to conserve rain water for your garden! Led by Brian Greene of Utah Water Watch, you'll learn all about rain water harvesting AND take home a rain barrel of your own. Make the most of our arid climate by collecting and storing rain water now for gardening later. This workshop will provide both the barrel and great insight from environmental pros on making best use of rain water harvesting in your own homes and gardens.

It's that time of year again! Join the nature center and local naturalists for a day on the Bear River! We'll canoe 14 miles, have lunch on the bank of the river (bring a bagged lunch with you!), and keep an eye out for birds and other wildlife. Come prepared for whatever weather may ensue, and plan for a day or relaxtion and nature exploration!

Learn to know the night sky! Join local astronomer Jim Akers on a journey into Logan Canyon at nightfall to see Jupiter, Mars and the rings of Saturn. Explore the night sky with the naked eye, binoculars, and SNC's new telescope! Learn your way around the major constellations, discover star clusters and nebulaw, and maybe even see a whirlpool galaxy! Recommended for all ages 10yrs and over. Hot chocolate provided.

As we make contact with the ground we must yeild to the earth. Actively yielding to the earth creates a rebounding force away from the earth, elongating the body upward into space. In this class, we will explore a variety of standing and balance poses to gain firsthand experiences of how gravity and levity principles influence our body, mind and heart. Please bring a yoga mat. No experience necessary.

The Visual Journal: A Nest for the Imagination - A Week-Long Workshop
Monday, June 2 to Friday, June 6, 9:00am to 12:00pm daily

At USU May 2-4, First Dam May 5-6

Cost: $110

Come make a home for your imagination at the week-long workshop presented in partnership with the Art Education program at USU! Walk away with a handmade journal made of exquisite paste paper, and a wealth of knowledge and hands on experience about the ancient art of book binding. You will learn to prepare the pages and bind the book together using a traditional Coptic binding. The last two days of the workshop will be spent in Logan Canyon, exploring both within ourselves, as well as the natural work around us. Instructor Dennise Gackstetter us a local artist and educator at USU, and will guide us through the process of designing and constructing your heriloom quality journal.

Spirit Goat Soap Workshop

Enjoy a hands-on workshop with SNC and the owner of Spirit Goat! Beacky Yeager will discuss the "cold-process" method of soap-making and you will walk away with a Jardine Juniper melt and pour soap, one side topped with mineral-rich sand from Logan Rover for exfoliation, and a bath fizzy scented with a Rocky Mountain Adventure fragrance. All ages welcome and no experience necessary.

We tend to carry the weight of the world on our shoulders, weighing down our body, mind and heart. This can result in physical discomfort and emotional fatigue. In this class we will explore backbends as a means to open and release those areas and bring them into balance and easeful alignment. You will leave with a peaceful body and calm mind. Please bring a ypga mat. No experience necessary.
